Review: L’oreal Caresse Lipgloss

Vandaag breng ik jullie een nieuw review. Dit keer gaat het over het L’Oreal Paris Caresse lipglosjes. De verpakking was al een tijdje mijn aandacht aan het trekken en een paar weken terug vond ik ze aan de helft van de normale prijs, dus ik nam er drie meer naar huis. Today I am bringing you a review. And this time it will be about the L’Oreal Paris Caresse lipglosses. The packaging had been catching my eye for some time now and a few weeks back I found them at a 50% discount so I took three of them home with me. 102 – Romy

De eerste gloss is een lichte roze kleur. Maar zoals we zullen zien in het vervolg van deze post, is dat de kleur die je in de verpakking ziet niet overeenstemt met de kleur van de swatches. Als we naar de swatch kijken, kunnen we zijn dat de kleur minder dekkend is, en wanneer we deze kleur op de lippen aanbrengen is er enkel een transparante glimmende laag over.

This first gloss is a light pink colour. But as we will be seeing in this blog, the colours that are shown in its packaging are for from what we get when we apply the colour. When we look at the swatch the colour is far less opaque and all that is left when you apply it on your lips is an almost transparent shine because of the small glitter it contains. But you don’t notice the colour at all.

200 – Princess

Toen ik deze gloss zag, wist ik dat dit een risico was of deze nu wel bij mij zou staan of niet. Als we de kleur in de verpakking bekijken, zijn we een roze kleur, met koraal tonen. Maar in de swatch kunnen we zijn dat die nogal oranje is. Zowel bij deze als de volgende gloss, kan de kleur iets worden opgebouwd door een tweede laag aan te brengen. Maar oranje blijft natuurlijk oranje.

When I saw this gloss, I knew it was a bit of a risk as to whether this colour would fit me or not. In the packaging the colour looks like a pink colour with coral tones. But once we swatch it, it is an orange colour. The colour of this gloss as well as the following one, can be build up by adding a second layer. But orange remains  orange.

300 – Juliet

Toen ik deze kleur zag was ik onmiddellijk verkocht. In de verpakking zag het er immers uit als een diep rood, fuchsia kleur, prachtig gewoon. Maar zoals je op de swatch kan zien, is dat niet de kleur die uit de tube komt. Het is echter een rode kleur, met oranje tinten, iets donkerder dan de vorige gloss.

When I saw this colour, it immediately drew my attention. It appeared to be a red gloss going to fuchsia simply amazing, but as you can see in the swatch it is a red tint going on orange, just a little darker as the previous gloss.

Wat is mijn mening en zou ik dit product opnieuw kopen? // What is my opinion and would I buy the product again?

Over het algemeen, moet ik toegeven dat deze glossjes mij niet echt overtuigd hebben. Ik heb verschillende reviews gelezen op het internet en de meningen zijn heel erg verdeeld. Maar dit is mijn mening. Het eerste dat ik opmerkte was de geur. Alle drie, de ene al iets sterker als de andere, hebben een ondragelijke geur, ik denk dat het naar plastiek ruikt maar ik kan het niet met zekerheid zeggen. Ik weet ook niet of het is dat de drie lipglossjes reeds slecht geworden zijn of dat dit hun normale geur is. Ik moet zeggen dat eens je het product aanbrengt, dat de geur na enkele ogenblikken was vervaagd. Verder is de toon van de glossjes niet uniform, en dan vooral de twee donkere kleuren, aangezien het licht roze enkel een schijn achterlaat op je lippen. Ik weet ook dat je van gloss niet kan vragen dat ze eenzelfde dekking, eenzelfde pigmentatie hebben als van lipstick maar de kleur zou wel uniform over de lippen moeten zijn. Het feit dat de kleur in de verpakking ook niet overeenstemt met de eigenlijke kleur is ook wel een hele afknapper. L’Oreal belooft ons dat de glossjes 6 uren duren op de lippen, maar net zoals zo velen lipproducten op de markt, worden deze 6 uur niet gehaald. Dit is een belangrijk punt voor mij, aangezien je, als je op stap gaat, je geen zorgen wil maken of je gloss nu goed zit of niet. Ik kan niet zeggen hoelang de gloss exact blijft zitten, maar na het eten van een appel, een uurtje na de gloss op te doen, had het binnenste gedeelte van de lip geen kleur meer. De eerste ogenblikken dat je de gloss aanbrengt, prikkelt deze een beetje. Ik heb nogal gehoord over producten die lang houden, kunnen prikkelen om zo zich beter aan de lippen te hechten. Maar zoals ik reeds zei is de langdurigheid van de gloss op de lippen onvoldoende. Ook wordt de gloss een beetje plakkerig nadat je deze een aantal tijd draagt. Ik kan dus zeggen dat dit product van mij geen goede beoordeling krijgt en dat ik dit dus zeker niet meer opnieuw zou kopen. Ik denk dat de enige kleur die ik nog ga gebruiken, de roze, bijna transparante kleur gaat zijn, en dit dan om niet het geld rechtstreeks in de vuilbak te gooien.

Generally speaking, I have not been convinced by this product. I have read several reviews online and opinions are all over the place. Some who love it, some who hate it. But this is my opinion. The first thing I noticed was the smell. All three of them (some stronger than the other) have a terrible smell, I can’t tell whether it’s a plastic smell or what it is. I’m not sure whether the three glosses have gone bad or whether this is just their regular smell. I have to say that the smell does fade when you are wearing it. Also the colour payoff doesn’t apply equally, especially the two darker colours, since you barely see the pink colour. I know you can’t ask of a gloss to have the same pigmentation or opacity as a lipstick, but it should be equally when you apply it on your lips. The fact the colour in the packaging also isn’t the same as when you apply it, is also disappointing. L’Oreal promises us that the glosses will last up to six hours, but just as so many lip products it fails this test. For me this is quite important, you don’t want to be on a night out and have to worry how your gloss looks. I can’t say exactly how long the gloss lasts. All I can say is that an hour after I applied it, I ate an apple and the colour on the inside part of the lip already faded away. The first moments that you apply the gloss, it stings a little bit. I have heard long lasting products do this to stick to the lips. But as I said this product isn’t long lasting. Also after wearing the gloss for some time it starts to have a sticky feeling on your lips. I can say that this product does not get a positive review and that I definitely would not buy it again. The only colour of these three that I would use again is the pink, transparent one, as to not throw my money directly into the garbage bin.
